Adaptive Technology
In addition to the Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped materials, patrons are welcome to take advantage of the available adaptive technologies at the Wyoming Branch:
- JAWS: large screen computer available with JAWS screen reader software
- Closed-Circuit Reader: a closed-circuit television that can be used to magnify printed materials
- Duxbury Braille Translator: computer software that will translate regular text into Braille format to be printed
- Braille Blazer: working in conjunction with Duxbury Translator software, prints out Braille text onto specialized embossing paper
- Aladdin Ambassador: scans and reads printed materials aloud without the aid of a computer
Each Kent District Library branch is also equipped with a selection of handheld magnifiers for use within the library.
