Local History Room Guidelines

The intent of the Caledonia Township Library History Room is to serve as a community repository for historical documents and photographs related to Caledonia Village and Township History. The room is also meant to provide a space for small meetings, or a quiet space for library patron use.
Guidelines for using the history room:
Small groups may reserve the room for meetings through the library staff.
· Refreshments shall be limited to such items as coffee, soft drinks (no red beverages), cookies, donuts and bagged/boxed lunches.
· Items in the history room are to be treated and handled with care.
· No running or other boisterous activity may occur in the local history room.
· Children may not be in the room unattended.
Items to be displayed in the history room on the open shelves:
· Must be displayed by a member of the Caledonia Historical Society.

· Items displayed will be handled and viewed by patrons. Items that are in delicate condition should be stored in the locked cabinets or closet. Patrons can view these items by special request to a member of the Historical Society.
· No large display pieces or furniture may be added to the local history room without the consent of the Library Branch Manager and/or Township. The History Room is not a museum but a reference/archive resource to the community.
· Materials of reference include: books, papers, drawings or photographs. Physical items such as models or collectibles are not to be displayed in the local history room. Small items of this nature that are historically relevant to

- Individuals or organizations wishing to display items must submit in writing their concept with a visual sketch of their display for approval to the Library Staff. Concept requests will be reviewed and approved by the Caledonia Branch Manager and Township.
- Items will be displayed for one to four months rotations.
