Exercise videos, tear-jerkers, vampire films, and Disney fill this month’s list.

Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father by TCRIME DVD 364.152 DEA If you feel like losing at least half of your faith in humanity, and regaining some of it back, and then losing it again, and subsequently crying for hours and hours and hours, you can’t go wrong with “Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son about his Father.” Good times. |

Enchanted by FAM/PG Disney takes the goofiness of cartoons and brings it to live action. The songs are touching, catchy, and hilarious. We find that dreams can come true, even in the “real” world. |

Hotel Terminus: The Life & Times of Klaus Barbie by HISTORY MILITARY WW2 DVD 940.5405 HOT “Hotel Terminus” is a disturbing, lengthy (267 minutes!) documentary on the life of one Klaus Barbie, a Nazi war criminal who, after World War 2 ended, was able to escape the Allied authorities and escape to South America. Marcel Ophuls, director of numerous documentaries on various historical topics, is meticulous in his research; probably one of the best after-effects of the film is the way it shows the complexity of human motive and history, as moral evil is confronted and exposed in the aftermath of a great war. |

Personal Training System by HEALTH EXERCISE DVD 613.7 DEN With 20-minute cardio segments and 10-minute strength training, many different combinations can be programmed to change up the workout—although I do have to mute the sound because her perkiness is a little nauseating. |

Simon Birch by PG/DRA I have a double-duty recommendation! The baseball theme is a minor part of the movie, but it really brings out the tears! – Simon Birch may have a small body, but his heart is as big as they come. This movie of strength, friendship and faith is at least a 5 tissue tear-jerker. (There’s also a baseball scene…so this covers two of the themes ;-) |

Up by FAM/PG Whilst my movie crying ability takes on epic proportions in KDL lore, one must admit that “Up” is a doozy of a tear-jerker! From the charming courtship montage of Carl and Ellie, through the goofy antics of Dug, to the plight of poor, hunted Kevin; I cried, and cried, and cried. And Loved Every Minute of this delightful movie. |
