Financial help from the federal government through the CARES Act has been hard to come by for a lot of small businesses nationwide. The application turnaround time has been slow, and many businesses have been turned down. The SBA is disbursing a second round of Paycheck Protection Plan small business loans this week, and once the money has been distributed, it's gone.
If you're a small business owner in Kent County, there are other ways to find support! The Greater Grand Rapids Chamber Foundation has announced a program called the Rapid Release Fund. The fund is focused on businesses in Kent County that employ 5-25 full-time staff. Their goal is to support businesses that can't access government funds in a timely manner, or who aren't eligible. They're also working with other local business associations to reach out to underserved groups and communities who might need extra support.
