Tom Noreen has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Kent District Library by the Kent County Board of Commissioners. Noreen will represent Spencer, Tyrone, Nelson and Oakfield Townships.
Noreen retired from the Army after 26-years of commissioned service and served on the Nelson Township Board for twelve years. He is a member of the Cedar Springs Rotary Club, Cedar Springs Education Foundation, and Committee Chair of Boy Scout Troop 222. As Nelson Township Supervisor, the library was one of his priorities. He oversaw a Community Development Block Grant that improved library accessibility and numerous Eagle Scout projects that enhanced landscaping of the grounds.
“I look forward to being a member of the KDL team and working with the libraries in my region,” Noreen said. “I have been impressed with the creativity that KDL has shown in its efforts to better serve the public.”
The eight members of the KDL Board of Trustees represent 27 communities throughout Kent County. Major duties include establishing and maintaining a public library for Kent District Library, establishing library policies, employing the Library Director, adopting an annual budget, and approving the expenditure of funds. Board meetings are typically held the third Thursday of every month; times and locations are posted at www.kdl.org.
