I always look forward to a new Harlan Coben book! I love his characters but appreciate that I don’t have to wait two years to find out what happens next since he has been writing stand-alone books. While you wait for this title, you might like to read The Marsh King’s Daughter by Karen Dionne. This suspense novel has a dark secret at its core. Helena Pelletier has kept a secret from her family. Her mother was abducted as a teenager and held in a remote location in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Helena was born and raised there as well. But now that her father has escaped from prison and disappeared into the UP, Helena might be the only one who can locate him.
The Forgotten Girls by Owen Laukkanen is book #6 in the Stevens & Windermere series. Kirk Stevens & Carla Windermere of the joint FBI-BCA violent crime force discover that the lone girl found murdered on the High Line train is just the latest in a long line of cold-case murders. Karen Katchur’s River Bodies also features a cold case and is the 1st book in the Northampton County series. Becca Kingsley returns home to care for her dying father, former police chief, and is quickly drawn into the investigation of a recent body found in the Delaware River that echoes a crime from 20 years ago.
Finally, Here and Now and Then by Mike Chen has a time-traveling twist. Kin Stewart, IT professional, is married with a teenage daughter. But he actually is a secret agent from 2142 who has been stuck in San Francisco since the 1990’s. When his rescue team arrives, only weeks have passed in 2142 but Kin’s memory has been affected by the extended stay in the past and he doesn’t remember his life and family in the future. Kin will do anything to keep both families, but in the process his daughter might be wiped from existence.
