Browsing book displays at the library or chatting with a favorite librarian are fantastic and free ways to find something good to read. On a deck at the lake, on a beach chair, on a snuggly couch inside and out of the rain, when the situation happens, it is hard to wait for a hold on the latest best-seller. If you need immediate reader satisfaction, here are a couple of digital ways to satisfy for your literary craving until you can come back into our libraries to browse and talk with us about books.
From our Ebooks and Downloads page, create an account with hoopla using your KDL (Kent District Library) library card. Our licensing with hoopla allows multiple users per book, so no need to place hold on their titles. KDL is charged per use, not per book, so check hoopla earlier in the day before our daily usage limit is met. Here are some of our librarians' favorites available through hoopla.
Download the Libby app from Overdrive and search new and old best-sellers. On Overdrive, it is one reader per book, so there may be waiting lists for the new best-sellers, but there is a great trick for finding that best-seller you may have missed: Look for the “what’s available” link on your Libby app and Libby will sort available titles by popularity. These hot titles were available to check out with no wait on 6/14/2020 at 9:25 am. Check out what is available now!
